Brampton Class had an inspiring day exploring Europe’s first eco-mosque! From the stunning "tree-like" architecture to the intricate geometric art, it was a fantastic way to bring our RE unit of work on Islam to life. We also delved into history by discussing the Museum of Early Islamic Civilisation, discovering how the Islamic Golden Age shaped the science and technology we use today.

To support the children's learning with their History topic 'World War Two', Year 6 visited the RAF Museum in Hendon. There, they were able to explore the different hangars and take part in workshops which explained how people kept themselves safe during air raids and how aeroplanes were used in battle. It was a fantastic day out and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip!

During the visit, the children gained an understanding of Roman daily life at Verulamium, developed their reasoning and observation skills through object handling, and acquired specific knowledge of Roman food, clothing, and lifestyle/pastimes.

Pupils in Year 6 took part in an incredibly moving and thought-provoking 'Remembrance Assembly'. They heard anecdotes from veteran soldiers, heard from individuals currently serving in both the Royal Navy and Army and reflected upon their sacrifices.

This week we burnt our houses that were made in the style of those from the Great Fire of London. This showed us how quickly the fire was able to spread due to the fact that the houses were extremely close together and made from flammable materials. All of this helped us with our information report writing.

We had a visit from the local fire service. They taught us all about how to stay safe in the event of a fire. We had fun squirting the hose too! This visit will prepare us for our history unit next half term where we will be comparing similarities and differences between the fire service now and what they had in 1666.
